Ukraine and The Czar

Ukraine wound up 1 and 2 in last week’s friendly hosted by Georgia. We beat Estonia on the first night, but lost against Belarus and Georgia in the following games. It’s not the best way to finish up exhibition play heading into next week’s qualifying tournament for EuroBasket 2013. Our young team will be going up against talented opponents with much more experience competing at the international level. Fortunately we have a couple more practices to regroup and prepare before opening up against Hungary on Wednesday.

Ukraine and The Czar

Georgia will host a four-team friendly tournament in its capital Tbilisi August 7-9 leading up to FIBA’s qualifying tournament for EuroBasket 2013. Ukraine will be joined in Georgia by Estonia and Belarus. Unfortunately we got stuck at the airport all day due to engine problems with our plane. Hopefully we will make it to Tbilisi in time to get a good night’s sleep before the tourney gets underway tomorrow.

Ukraine and The Czar

Ukraine’s 69-53 loss to Georgia in our fourth game of the tournament ended our hopes of reaching the second round of EuroBasket 2011.
